Standing Rhino Dancer by Rhinegas (from his notebooks)

This is another of my Rhino's of the Old Master's Series and here is the text to go with it:

Rhinegas (pronounced Rhine-gah) created his work in the 19th century. He is best known for his rhino dancers. He spent hours and hours in dance studios as the little calves pirouetted and plied away. Even though he was a white rhino, he had the crotchety disposition of a black rhino. He didn't much like his little subjects and hated the fact that he was known as the "painter of dancers." Despite all of this, he returned to his subject over and over. One could say he was obsessed with these dancers very much against his will. It is reported that there was one incident in the studio that annoyed him so much that he proceeded to mock charge the little ballerinas. This caused much hysteria and tears and he was ordered to leave the studio at once.

On another note, I'm still cold. How about everyone else? I am looking forward to hitting the zero mark. Will it happen? I guess we'll have to see. The WCCO forecast says that the high today is 8 degrees above zero, but the temp is listed as minus 7 now. Maybe they haven't updated in awhile. Anyway, I was thrilled when my pet-sitting customer called and said she didn't need me to see her dog today. Yay! Right now I'm cozily sitting on the couch covered in blankets watching the Battlestar Galactica marathon (I'm doing this despite the fact that I own all the dvds) that the sci-fi network is airing to get us worked up for the season premier tonight. I can't wait! It's my favorite show. It's so well written and the acting is fantastic and is nothing like the cheesy original that aired in the late 70's. I've been waiting months for this and am very excited!

I like Rhinegas's artwork...too bad he was a cranky sort and scared the young rhino dancers.
Will they ever dance again? This little dancer looks very light on her feet.
